Do I need a visa?
Yes, ECSEL participants will need to obtain visas in advance of their travel to the United States.  This is the responsibility of the participant and the process of obtaining a visa must be started as soon as participants are accepted into the ECSEL 2010 Program.  We will assist students with all of the documentation that is necessary to obtain a visa. We have successfully helped Chinese students to obtain visas in the past.
Where will I stay?
Participants will stay at the University of the Pacific during their time at the campus in Stockton, California.  Hotel lodging in Miami during CGI-U will be arranged on behalf of participants.  All lodging costs are included in the scholarship provided to ECSEL 2010 participants.
How much does ECSEL 2010 cost?
The ECSEL 2010 scholarship covers all travel, lodging, food, visa and program costs. Incidental expenses during the course of travel are the responsibility of the participants.
How well must I speak/write English?
We do not believe that it is necessary for social enterprise leaders in China to speak English. However, because the program will take place in the United States and be conducted in English, we will choose participants who can fully participate without a language barrier.  Participants in the ECSEL 2010 program must be sufficiently proficient in English to write the application in English themselves and converse in both formal and informal settings during the course of the ECSEL program.
Who is considered a Chinese student?
Applicants for ECSEL must be Chinese citizens. They can be studying in China or abroad. However, we do not accept students currently studying in the United States.
